Got Some, 2022

Got Some depicts a berry-colored teddy bear, sporting a green bow-tie and waving playfully at the viewer with a Disney-esque gloved hand. He has a wonderful buzzing energy to him that comes from a successful combination of just the right tempo of brushstrokes, just the right amount of detail, and a few well-placed pencil lines. He is a joyfully positive little character, reflecting the exact mindset I was in just as I finished him.

One of my favorite elements of the piece is my signature at the bottom right of the piece, which is composed of all the same colors that make up the bear. I vary my signature on each painting I make to best suit that painting; in the case of Got Some, it became a great little balancing gesture that echoes and supports the delightful form of the bear.
