Manhattan Beach Central Park
This is my “Inspirational Blueprint” of a beautiful, peaceful, inspiring space and botanical garden where the old 400 bank building on Manhattan Beach Blvd and Morningside Dr. currently resides. Let’s create something special FOR the residents of Manhattan Beach… let’s start creating Manhattan Beach Central Park!
This painting was created to inspire the Community of Manhattan Beach to build a beautiful building — could be Modern, French, Spanish, etc… — with a beautiful botanical garden.
Below are a few possible use cases for this design…
Rooftop: British afternoon tea, private events, small concerts, cafe/tapas/daytime bar, morning yoga for MB residents, community meetings, …
2nd Floor: Art Museum, private events, creative classes (e.g. painting, sculpting, etc…), small balcony concerts, beautiful and inspiring open space for flexibility and special events, …
1st Floor: 6 curated and specialized food stalls (e.g. fish tacos, pizza, ramen, etc…) that provide inexpensive food options and staffed by local teens. Every 6-12 months, MB residents get to vote which food stalls stay and which new ones should be accepted.
Possible Lower Ground: Kitchen space, art gallery/storage, teen space, private events, …
The Gardens: A place where families and MB residents can enjoy the beauty and peace of Nature. Grab a coffee, gelato or a bite to eat and enjoy on a bench, under a tree or at an outdoor table. A Rose Garden curated by an elected MB resident and honored with a plaque. An art inspired water feature to further enhance the soothing sounds of the ocean.
As my friend, collector and longterm MB resident Desmund Shirazi said, “We all love traveling to Europe for the beautiful art, gardens and architecture… why not bring them all here!”
Pedestrian Plaza (Morningside Dr): Rotating and curated food trucks, outdoor exercise area, extended garden, weekly or monthly flea markets, …
One last note… I have been told by many longterm MB residents that in 2005 when the Metlox Plaza was built, the MB residents originally voted for that area to become a park… let’s finally fulfill that wish!
